How Does LPR Help Regulate Visitor Access to My Parking Lot?

Q&A with Business Development & Strategy Officer Adamo Donatucci

It is no surprise that your customers expect a safe parking experience when visiting your facility. That is why it is critical to ensure you have the right technology in place to reinforce your facility's security to the highest degree, not only to ease customer anxiety but to create an environment that will result in reoccurring visits. This can be achieved by implementing smart technologies like licence plate recognition.

We asked Precise ParkLink's Business Development and Strategy Officer, Adamo Donatucci, how an LPR system can help enhance a parking facility's security.

Q. How does LPR enhance my facility’s security?

A. An LPR system can enhance a facility's security by allowing operators to configure security notifications and control access with comprehensive lists. The advantage of licence plate association is that the licence plate recognition system cross-references guidelines that are put in place, such as access lists, block lists, and notification lists.

Access lists generally comprise permit holders, staff members, reserved parking qualifiers, VIP guests and contractors. Block lists may include visitors who are not permitted to enter the lot, for example, non-permit holders or someone who has been banned from the property. Notification lists can be configured to alert you of vehicles attempting to tailgate through a gated parking system or for vehicles repeatedly entering and exiting the parking lot within a short period of time.
