3 Integrations to Enhance the Airport Parking Experience

Airport parking can be an overwhelming experience for travellers, providing them with an effortless parking experience can result in them becoming reoccurring customers as opposed to finding alternative options for parking or navigating to the airport. We have determined three technologies to integrate into your airport parking to enhance the overall experience.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

As the number of electric vehicle owners continues to grow so does the demand for electric vehicle charging stations. Airports can provide a variety of EV charging station options for their visitors. Those who park in long-term parking can choose to leave their vehicle at a standard charging rate EV charger, once they return from their trip their vehicle will be fully charged. Visitors waiting to pick up a traveller can utilize fast or ultra-fast charge stations benefitting from having their vehicle at full charge during their short-term parking stay. Electric vehicle taxis and buses can also benefit from the fast charging stations. Providing EV-driving visitors with a place to park and charge their vehicles will mitigate the chance of them driving to an alternative lot that offers EV charging.

Creating a Frictionless Airport Parking Experience

A frictionless parking solution eliminates various touch-points for customers such as interacting with parking equipment to enter or exit a facility or making a payment at a pay station or entry/exit terminal. A frictionless experience can be achieved in a few ways. Long-range transponders are a reliable option for verifying permit credentials, they simply drive up to the gate and let the transponder do the work. Automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) technology can be used similarly, their vehicle’s license plate is registered to their permit profile. They simply drive up to the gate and the ALPR camera reads the license plate and opens the gate with a valid license plate. Additionally, integrating a mobile payment platform can eliminate the need to visit a pay station, allowing users to manage their parking stay on the go through their mobile device. Allowing customers to spend less time in queues waiting to enter the facility or pay to exit will ultimately provide them with a better airport parking experience.

Airport Parking Facility Wayfinding and Navigation

Navigating to an available parking stall can be time-consuming and tedious, installing a parking guidance system with a smart camera can aid visitors to an available parking space. Parking guidance systems not only illuminate above the stall if it’s available or not, they can also integrate with digital signage and Find-My-Car Assistance software. Digital signage can be placed at the entrance to the parking facility to let visitors know which levels have availability. Find-My-Car Assistance software can aid visitors when leaving to where they parked their vehicle. Smart parking guidance systems provide seamless parking experiences from when they arrive at your facility until they leave.
