Electrifying the City of Windsor with EV Charging Stations
Wednesday, November 4th, 2021
For immediate release.
The City of Windsor's quest for a more sustainable future is underway, with 11 electric vehicle charging stations being installed throughout the city. This move is part of the first stage of the vehicle electrification program, with plans to meet Canada's mission of going completely electric by 2035. The project is funded by the Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program and in-kind sponsorship from ENWIN Utilities.
The City of Windsor has entrusted Precise ParkLink to integrate sustainable electric vehicle charging stations across the city. This will help them meet the growing need for EV chargers for both residents and visitors and advance the goals of the City of Windsor's economic diversification plan, Windsor Works, and the Community Energy Plan. The new electric vehicle charging station project is part of the City Council's commitment to invest $1.6 billion over ten years to upgrade and improve public infrastructure, including roads, sewers, transportation and parks and recreation.
In August, we attended a ground-breaking ceremony in Windsor to welcome this city milestone. The installation of all EV charging stations is expected to be completed by March 2022. It will be available to electric or hybrid vehicles drivers free of charge during the initial introduction stage. Following the event, Adamo Donatucci, Business Development and Strategy Officer at Precise ParkLink, stated, "Integrating EV charging solutions into the city of Windsor's existing parking infrastructure will allow them to meet the growing demand for sustainable parking solutions. As a trusted management and technology provider for municipalities across the country, we are proud to support them in achieving their resident-and visitor-focused needs every step of the way.”
