Offering Advanced EV Charging Software and Network Solutions
When planning your EV charging portfolio, it’s important to think about what your properties will look like in 5 to 10+ years from now.
How many EV chargers will you deploy amongst your properties? What different types of drivers will be using your EV charging stations? Will they be charged different rates? It’s important to take all of these needs into consideration when planning your EV charging portfolio. The network you choose plays a key role.
The ChargePoint network:
Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant: ChargePoint was a developer of the original OCPP and has pioneered interoperability with the creation of CollaboratEV aimed at ensuring a driver can seamlessly charge on a station from any network provider using one source for billing
Dashboard and analytics: station owners see how stations are being used and when it's time to add capacity
Waitlist management: drivers can get in line and get notified when a station is available, improving utilization
Power management: efficiently and automatically utilize power available for charging vehicles. Save money on costly upgrades and avoid demand charges
Flexible pricing: price by the hour, kWh, time of day, customer type or any combination
Access control: limit who can use the charging stations and when. Station owners can disable charging during “closed” times
Fleet services: fleet managers can track vehicle charging and pay for electricity if they need to charge at other stations
Driver services: automatically notify drivers of a full charge, available station, power changes and more
APIs: most functions are also available through SOAP/XML and REST APIs that follow the same data access rules as the UI

+ Is ChargePoint’s software Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) compliant?
ChargePoint runs the largest and most open OCPP compliant network in the world. They were a developer in the original OCPP and have been a pioneer of interoperability through creating a collaborative network that is aimed at ensuring a driver can seamlessly charge on a station from any network provider and use one simple and single source for billing.
ChargePoint software is open-source.
+ What is the difference between AC and DC charging?
AC charging relies on an "onboard charger" inside the vehicle to convert AC to DC to charge the battery. DC fast stations convert AC power to DC within the station, delivering DC power directly to batteries and enabling a much quicker charge.
+ Are ChargePoint ports universal?
ChargePoint charging station ports are universal and can plug into all electric vehicles.
+ Do I need a level-2 or level-3 EV charging station?
The main difference between level-2 and level-3 EV charging stations is the speed at which they charge vehicles. Level-2 EV chargers are commonly seen at workplaces, shopping centres and commercial parking lots. In comparison, Level-3 EV chargers are widely seen along highways, at gas stations, convenience stores, and short-term parking lots allowing drivers to top off their vehicle battery quickly.
