Supporting Rapid COVID-19 Testing

For the past several months hospitals across Canada have been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The northwest part of Toronto, Ontario has been particularly affected by this pandemic, and the regional healthcare provider—Humber River Hospital (HRH)— has had the second highest number of COVID-19 patients than any hospital across the Greater Toronto Area.

The fight against COVID-19 is far from over, and Canadian healthcare needs are rapidly changing. Precise ParkLink is proud to support Humber River Hospital lead the way when it comes to COVID-19 testing. The hospital has recently acquired three new testing machines that are being used on-site to detect this deadly virus. But the cost of the equipment is only part of the overall expense of testing for COVID-19. Each test costs hospitals $20.00 for swabs. In a day, that adds up to $4,200 and in a week its more than $20,000.

COVID-19 will be a part of our lives for a while. The ongoing testing required is expensive but vital. As an active member of the northwest Toronto community Precise ParkLink is happy to support HRH in keeping the community as safe as possible.

Rapid COVID-19 testing helps to:

  • Reduce wait times for patients to receive results by running up to 210 tests each day, right at the hospital with results coming back in 75 minutes.

  • Prioritize “Stat” patients and frontline staff testing. For frontline staff, having results in 75 minutes eliminates the need to self isolate for days until results return. If negative, staff will continue working in a healthcare system that is relying on them to care for patients.

  • Increase access to care for the community by rapidly testing patients and staff as areas such as surgery and other outpatient clinics re-open for service.

Precise ParkLink is proud to be a service provider for 80% of Ontario hospitals, and over 200 healthcare locations across Canada. We appreciate the Canadian healthcare system and front line employees and will remain by their side, supporting their essential service as best as we can.
