In today's business landscape, organizations are focused on automating and optimizing processes while ensuring a seamless experience for customers—and parking and mobility is no different. License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology presents a significant opportunity for the parking industry to enhance operations and deliver frictionless access.

To shed light on the concept, we spoke with Systems Engineer Jai Bansal from Precise ParkLink.

Q. What is license plate recognition (LPR)?

A. License Plate Recognition (LPR), also referred to as Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), involves the use of specialized cameras to capture images or videos of vehicles entering or exiting parking facilities. By employing AI-driven models and advanced optical character recognition software, our LPR solutions reliably identify vehicles based on their license plates. This can then be used for determining access privileges, calculate parking rates, and assists with enforcement actions.

LPR technology provides a seamless solution that can be integrated into both gated and non-gated parking operations.
