SmartCentres Transit City, part of the City of Vaughan’s 100+ acre SmartVMC master plan, is a major mixed-use development consisting of 5 towers supported by approximately 2,000 parking stalls across a 7-level parkade for use by residents and TTC commuters.
The Challenges
Aptly named, Transit City acts as a major transportation hub in Toronto’s north end, and facilitating customers’ journeys wherever they’re going meant designing a seamless parking experience every step of the way.
The Solution
Achieving greater system throughput to address growing traffic volumes meant integrating license plate recognition technology into Skidata’s gated parking system installed in entry and nested lanes. For even greater performance and customer convenience, we layered our reservations system on top of both technologies. This innovative solution design simplified customers’ parking experience, reduced traffic congestion, and generated new revenue sources for SmartCentres.
